Fifth Edition of LPL 2024 to kickoff from July 1

The fifth edition of the eagerly anticipated Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to kick off on July 1, featuring a lineup of renowned international and Sri Lankan players. Over three thrilling weeks, these stars will showcase their skills in T20 matches held at three iconic venues.

Some notable international players include New Zealand’s dynamic all-rounders Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman, Bangladesh’s pace talents Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, Pakistan’s Shadab Khan and Agha Salman, West Indies’ experienced campaigners Andre Fletcher and Fabian Allen, Afghanistan’s spin wizards Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, and Noor Ahmad, and South Africa’s talented pair Rilee Rossouw and Reeza Hendricks.

In LPL 2024, Sri Lanka’s representation is equally impressive, featuring top-tier players such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Kusal Mendis, alongside other national team stars.

The league phase spans from July 1 to 16, where the five teams – Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy – will compete against each other twice at three iconic venues: R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla, and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

The playoffs for LPL 2024 will kick off on July 18 at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, culminating in the final match scheduled for July 21.
