“Even we were surprised by some of the decisions” – SLC President Shammi

Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva has expressed his surprise regarding some decisions taken by the Sri Lankan team during the Twenty20 World Cup.

Attending an event held in Colombo, Mr. Silva expressed his opinion on the harsh criticism after the team’s failure from the ongoing tournament in the United States.

“Our team did not qualify for the Super Eight round. But we have given them facilities comparable to the best teams in the world,” said Mr. Silva.

De Silva mentioned that he has been heavily criticized as if he had participated in that tournament.

“I don’t make specific decisions if I’m playing. Even we were surprised by some of the choices. But those decisions were taken by our cricketers and their management.” He explained.

Silva mentioned that although the team lost, some problems regarding the tournament were not resolved.

“Nobody understands the conditions on the pitches or even some of the best teams not qualifying from the competition,” he noted.

Mr. Silva pointed out the progress of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute over the years and said that the management is constantly focusing on the development of the game.
